Or even longer. My 18 years old DX7 still got its original lithium 
battery. It's down to 2.7 volts by now but still does its job.

To replace a NiCad with a lithium battery, usually just the circuitry 
that charges the battery has to be removed. Lithium batteries don't 
like it to be charged.
