The answer is yes and I'm working on something like that.
The only thing is that the "events genaration" part needs to
be designed around a uC (at least it seems the easiest way
to do it).

One of the biggest difficulties I'm meeting on this project
is the huge number of features one want to add to the basic
granular thing. Pretty soon it's hard to decide where to stop...

And I've found that approaching the problem the other way
around could be a solution : consider a polyphonic synth
with automated control...
