This seems to be a realization of something I've wanted to see ever since
the early 1980's. In my head, I've had this vision of a control surface
that would change the labeling for all the controls, depending on which
mode they were in. I thought a touch screen would be pretty cool, but this
looks even better--as long as you don't want to change the number and
placement of the controls dynamically. I guess you would still need a touch
screen and "virtual" knobs to do that.
It's just a pity that it's taken this long to develop--even more of a pity
that I wasn't wealthy enough to develop it myself. :)
Then there's the fact that this is newly patented technology, which means
it would probably be expensive to license for use in other products. That
is, if they would even license it at all. They really should license it. I
think it's an idea that deserves widespread acceptance.
