[sdiy] new pulse circuit on the web

Generally, this SDIY stuff is way out of my league. But it doesn't
usually stop me from trying. This pulse circuit seems to spit out a
result a bit similar to a guitar-oriented fuzzbox I came up with,
called the Uglyface. Mind you, this was designed for a guitar level
input signal, as simply as possible, with a bit of unpredictability in
mind. You can see it here:

The heart of the circuit is a Vactrol and a 7555. The 7555 acts as a
oscillator that is triggered when the input audio signal (usually
electric guitar) reaches a threshold point. The result is a variable
pulse output, pulses controlled by the Vactrol. As is, there's no
provision for CV input, with variable envelope control instead. But
that could probably be fixed easily. In use, it sounds kinda like a
super overdriven resonant filter, with suboctave tones at low frequency
settings and a gating effect when the input signal falls below
threshold. Very crude, not a typical fuzz pedal, but interesting and
unique (particularly for the electric guitar crowd).
