[sdiy] That phat horn sound

Hey,

I admit: I'm a sucker for good cartoon music. The
Jetsons, The Simsons, Jonny Quest... and Family guy. I
was in repose just last evening listening to the
closing music for Family Guy when I was reminded just
how punchy horns can be. The trumpets are the same
approximate volume, they aren't clipping -- I'd know
-- but they are so much louder! Or at least they seem
to be...

So what's the gag? What is it about horns that pierce
thru the fog and light up your ears like a kid's face
on Christmas? How does one get a rag-tag collection of
hamemade modules do that??
