I'd be surprised to find a readily available book on synthesis
techniques as good as Gordon Reid's long running 'Synth Secrets' series
in SOS. Go to http://www.sospubs.co.uk/search/query.asp , search on
'synth secrets'.
This is fairly typical of the quality of SOS's non-review content. The
only competition SOS had disappeared when Music Technology turned into
"The Mix" (poor FM clone) and later was absorbed into Future
Publishing's low-brow assortment of crypto-lad mags.
There's certainly more to it than just gear reviews and adverts, even if
I would much prefer to be buyng E&MM...
