OK Magnus, if you were a small firm making modulars, would you, say, hand
Trent Reznor a $20,000 system---and then ask humbly for an endorsement?
Even if it means you don't pay the rent for 3 months and end up in
bankruptcy court?

(And what makes you think he'll give you an endorsement?)

Yes. Such things exist. The German and French governments have
agencies which do nothing but sponsor and support small musical
equipment manufacturers. You see their pavilions at Musikmesse
and NAMM every year. Korea and China have started similar agencies.

Why do you think there are so many synth manufacturers in Germany,
in spite of their high manufacturing costs? Because they get SUBSIDIES.
Plus protective tariffs are put on imported equipment at their border.

Why doesn't the US government do this?? Hah.

All that tax money goes to the conservative Republican fat lazy
peckerhead employees of Lockheed, Boeing, Raytheon, etc.....
gotta keep making those weapon systems.....
the Commies are coming over the next hill, any day now.....

(I worked at Lockheed in Sunnyvale in the early 80s. The employees were
very cynical--they called the place "The Lazy L Ranch". I love the word
PECKERHEAD, it describes the average Lockheed manager accurately.)

And while they got fatter and lazier during the 1980s, the Japanese
seized the synthesizer business from Moog, ARP, EML, Sequential, etc.

There "should be" a lot of things, Magnus. It's not that life is unfair,
it's that bastards and liars and idiots make it more unfair.
