Juergen's version does have companding, but it uses some op-amps and the
FETs in a 4007 rather than an companding chip such as the NE571.
I haven't measured the noise, but it is perfectly acceptable for an analogue
fx unit.
It is a very nice sounding phaser. I've got a small stone too, but they have
quite different characters, so there's room for both.
