[sdiy] analog step sequencer

greetings list folk!

i have been spending some time with the old soldering iron and some kits 
lately and i have come to a painful conclusion:  i wish to build an 
analog step sequencer.

i haven't seen any kits out there so i am more than willing to do one 
from scratch but i've been unable to come up with any leads as to where 
to begin.  i'd like to use it to drive my paia 9700 and some other 
homebrewed thingy-mo-bobs i have constructed over the years.

if there's anyone out there who has done this and has pointers to some 
schematics, etc. please let me know!  it would be greatly appreciated!
