Isn't the characteristic very S-shaped?
Also component tolerances can be a grief.
Useable resistance range ~ 100 or ~ 1000?
A differential amp scheme for driving the LEDs
will overlay a tanh (?) characteristic.
If that all does not really matter, why not give it a try?

Subject: [sdiy] Volume control with LDR´s ?
Hallo friends,
after some good time with a scratchy pot, i asked myself if it would
be possible to build a volume control using 2 LDR´s in series, controlling
the lighting of them anti-parallel (if one becomes more light, the other one will see
less light and vice versa) to replace a volume pot.
Has anybody done this ? If yes, what were your results ?
OK, from time to time i see LDR´s used to control parameters like filter resonance
via an LDR to make it voltage-controllable - but would this work for audio ?
All your opinions are welcome.
Thank you all !
