Well, I say it's both.  Even if you don't care that much for the timber 
modulation approach, it's still very important, I think, to have more 
starting waveforms available than merely the usual saw/tri/pulse MacCombo.

I like those, too, which is why I have ended up including a way to subtract 
the input wave in my shapers.  The new one is the first one where this 
subtraction is under voltage control.
