[sdiy] question about zyklus sequencer

Hi I'm looking for some information about a zyklus sequencer.
Can anybody tell me what this device is actually doing. 
I know that this device was build in the mid 80's by a Bill Marshall
and that he has build a special version called the direct box wich
was used by Vangelis on the album.....of course Direct.
The only info I can get so far is that the sequencer from Dr.T. KCS for
atari and amiga in open mode is doing quite similar stuff.
But I'ld like to know what the zyklus whas actually doing with midi.
