Maybe Jurgen Michaelis (JoMoX) Resonator Nuronium fits the bill?
Its a analogue FM synth, one 'operator' can modulate any other.
But as the 'operators' are filter based you may run audio through them at
the same time.
Again audio from any 'operator' can feed into any other 'operator',
there is external audio input option as well.
The Nuronium is a complex thingy to program, unless your looking for chaos
anyways.
