I remember back in the late 80's I had a buddy who had a big lunchbox type
of mobile phone so he could call and say he was going to be late for
meetings!
Seems like it would have been cheaper to just show up on time considering
what mobile phones cost back then.
But this was a guy who ate $100 dinners in 4 star restaurants and drove to
work in reverse because he couldn't afford to have his transmission fixed.
