The pots are fine. Alphas. Same as a bunch that a lot of others use.
There are no measurable reliability issues with those Alphas. A matter of
fact, I prefer them over sealed pots because when they do get dirty as most
pots do (sealed or no)t, at least you can service them.
If the article you're speaking is that on-line thing written by an English
company that at one point sold Doepfer and in the same article praised
Analogue Systems - please read in between the lines. Most of the complaints
they issued (pots and jacks) could have as easily befall A. Sys and Analogue
Solutions for that matter as they use the exact same components in these two
categories..
Listen, I'm not taking sides here, trust me on this. Dieter and Bob
Williams are both friends of mine, as they are to each other as well. And
they both agree that that write-up was B.S. Personally, I respect the
comraderie between the two of them and would like to see all manufacturers
behave this way with one another as they are all in the same boat,
together.
Perception is everything If you are told that one companies goods are bad
because you heard it from someone you feel you should trust, then the others
benefit. The other side of the very same coin, some may feel one
manufacturers goods are incredible because of the money they charge for
them, Again, perception.
