[sdiy] Serial->MIDI

Hello list,

my search for a programmable touch-screen thingy has finally come to an
end with the aquisition of a Casio PV-S460. The touchscreen is better
than I thought and easily operated without the stylus, the development
system is available for free and the resolution of 160x160 (low by PDA
standards, but with EL backlight) is just perfect for the larger
viewing distance I plan to use it at. The only thing I'm still missing
is a serial->MIDI converter so I can control my synths with it and of
course I'll have to write some applications.

So if anyone has an idea for a converter box that can be used without
the need for complicated driver software, DIY or otherwise, please let
me know. At least initially I'll have no need for MIDI sync or good
timing, I plan to use this for "drawing" envelopes, XY control of two
MIDI CC, virtual drawbars and recall of setups across multiple synths.

Achim.
