No base is right, because the compensation voltage is also reversed in 
sign. Such "modifications" are trivial: turn arround all diodes and 
electrolytics and replace NPNs by PNPs and vice versa. All signals also 
reverse sign.

YOu could easily build a moog ladder upside down if you like. A goom 
reddal so to say...
