Sure!!  I've even heard that metal working has been gaining in popularity 
vs wood working due to the increasing cost and decreasing availability of 
exotic hardwoods.

Check out The Home Shop Machinist  (www.villagepress.com/homeshop/).  Also 
Live Steam and Machinist's Workshop.  In addition, Lindsay Publications has 
a fascinating series of reprints of old books.  You should be able to find 
HSM in your local specialty bookstore.  From there you can find ads for 
other publications.
