[sdiy] Combined CV/Gate on a cable

It sounds like a nice idea AS LONG AS the circuitry is protected so that
using different cables (mono instead of stereo) or running a cable into
another manufacturers' synth doesn't accidentally fry something. Maybe a
nice strong 14V gate pulse applied to a VCO's CV input might cause some
problems. In other words, it might be okay as long as it is idiot proof.
Then again, it's not that much trouble to run two cables instead of one, is
it?
