Trying to be concise with my suggestion (and sorry if too much posting) :
Two or four channels from 13V max. to +4dB bal and -10dB unbal outputs
Each channel's row :
- input
- switch to route it to left or right headphone
- bal line out, unbal line out
- three level LEDs; one for overall level, one for peak level and one for
clip warning (= at the recorder -20dBfs, -2dBfs, 0dBfs approx.!)
Common :
- headphone amp with level control, maybe headphone overload LED.
- PANIC button
- test tone generator.
Injected in place of the signals coming from the modules and to all channels
of the interface.
1kHz sine with a switch for three levels: 5V, 10V and 13V. So you can adjust
your recorder. For huge or impredictable dynamic range, just switch to 13V
and adjust recorder to just clipping. For more controlled dynamics you can
adjust the 5V position to -20dBfs (24bit) or -12, -18dB (16bit), that is
half of the full scale. The 10V position would then reach -2dBfs, I
imagine.
Does it make sense?
