   Hi Martin!

   Very true!  When I designed my VCA module, I specifically designed a 
extra set of outputs that were compatible with the real world.  So you 
can get both full +-10V signals on banana and +-1V signals on 1/4".  I 
also built in soft-knee clipping so you can overdrive as much as you like 
and you won't damage anything outboard (and it sounds good too!); and I 
also added muting circuitry (gate controlled...which also doubles as 
thump-prevention on power up!).

   You could add that, but for me, that's what a good desk is all about.

   I certainly want to build an input module sometime.  Definately both 
line and mic inputs.
