While we're on this "off" topic, here's a website where the guy writes about
several related topics, including what he calls "solid state tube" amps of
his own design. He has tube amp circuits and more.

He seems to go his own way, which makes for interesting reading if you like
this kinda stuff:
The input capacitance of the FET is virtually eliminated by the use of
direct coupling
the bipolar at the source output....
high frequency content from the FET that would normally be shunted by
the input
capacitance hence reducing gain, would instead be passed on to the
bipolar transistor.
Since the source follower is virtually a unity gain (a gain of x1)
amplifier, this
makes for a very wide bandwidth at unity.
I don't suppose this is off-topic, after all. Guitar amps, perhaps. Applied
amplifier theory, right on.
