[sdiy] Broken Chroma Polaris in a Music Shop, a good bargain ?

I found a "new" Chroma Polaris in a music store, it was newer sold but 
it is broken. It seems that half left control panel dont works anyway 
but it sounds. (these are the dealer's words, i try it only some years 
ago when it was still working and still at 1000$).
Now The dealer asked me about 300$ for the broken Polaris so I'm tinking 
to buy it as is and try to repair it myself.
Have anyone advices about the kind of problem it can suffer ?
