It came up recently agian, and I was pleased to know that Moog did not omit
credit to its inventor as I thought (I couldn't find the mention on the Moog
site), but it turns out others did for me.
The Piano Bar is a Don Buchla invention he's been selling on his own for a
couple of years and he struck a deal with Moog. I believe it works by
tracking the activity of a ultra violet led that's bouncing light off of the
key it's looking at so to speak. This way, note and velocity info is
ascertained.
Selling is technology to other companies is Buchla's M.O and I think a real
smart one. He sold the 100 series to CBS, he TRIED to sell the 200 to
Yamaha but they opted for the Standford deal instead, he sold Touche to
Kimball...there's a bunch of deals like this in his history. Makes a lot of
sense.
Regarding a midi input to the Piano. I'll be happy to add a din connector
to the side of your Bosendorf. It may not do much though!
