Bernie Hutchins started publishing Electronotes in January 1972. Considerable synthesizer design work has been published in Electronotes. The whole set is interesting but volumous and expensive. I recommend the "Musical Engineer's Handbook" and the "Builder's Guide and Preferred Circuits Collection". Beware that parts may be difficult to find for older circuits. Neverthless Electronotes is an excellent starting point.
