I've read this several times, but I don't believe it. A hardware MIDI 
Thru is an optocoupler and a logic gate. The delay of this is in the 
microseconds range. Even if the slopes are a bit sloppy and thus a 
delay is introduced, the delay of a single stage must still be 
significantly shorter than the bit length.

It's a different thing of course if a software MIDI Thru is involved, 
with all the data passing through a processor.
