I can see a derivative of "closing them with aluminum sheets":

You could probably use aluminum horizontal "mini blinds" and ground them.
I'm sure horizontal mini blind is an American term, but they're the
louvered adjustable blinds with made of thin horizontal strips.

Due to the thin nature of the aluminum, it would probably only provide
minimal protection... but it's probably better than nothing.  Of coures you
get the added benefit of your room looking "normal" :)  If you wanted to
get crazy, why not ground the metal instect screen on the outside of your
window for a little added coverage?
