[sdiy] how to prevent EMI coming through windows?

How about a woven EMI shielding mesh embedded in molded acrylic? Or a woven
screen laminated between two layers of glass or polycarbonate? Seems to be a
number of firms out there selling such things.

I can think of shielding the walls, floor, ceiling and also doors
against RF, that shouldn't be too hard nor expensive.
But what about windows? Wifes do usually object against:

-closing them with aluminum sheets completely
-having fine metal grids permanently installed in front of
the window
-to lay bricks to close the windows for ever

Is there any other solution? Perhaps glas with a very thin film
of metal?
