[sdiy] New ASM-1 pcb

I've been looking at getting an ASM1 for a long time, eventually when I
finish renovating my new house I can set up my studio/workshop. Until
then - aren't laptops great! ;)

Anyhoo, for my vote I'd like all the circuit improvements, plus a ring
modulator would be nice, midi-cv would possibly be good (how extensive
though), and maybe a power supply.

One other thing that may/may not be a good idea - how about
standardizing on a panel and producing a large quantity for optional
sale with the pcb? I noticed that you sell complete component kits, plus
you were talking only recently about the ASM1 genie design. It would
bring the price down nicely for (cheap) people like me!

Andy.

Subject: [sdiy] New ASM-1 pcb

Hi,

I am the official supplier of the ASM-1 pcb and it has come time to get
a new batch of boards in. I wish to get feedback from you users on a few
points:-
1) would you like the board to stay exactly as is including a few minor
component omissions etc, or
2) would you like to see the board enhanced as follows:-
* track sizes all increased - signal tracks taken from 12mil to
15mil
* missing components added onboard (diode on gate for ADSR,
output resistor on ADSR and VCF, 10R resistor on ADSR ATTACK pot)
* ground plane on both top and bottom layers
*         increased spacing on transistors
* improved component layout to handle wider range of component
sizes
* option for both axial and SMD Tempco in VCO and VCF
* minor improvement to ADSR - replace GATE threshold pot with
resistive divider
* inclusion of jumper option for Linear and/or Logarithmic GLIDE
* trimpot on VCO to improve easy of setting-up
* board terminals on a 3.5mm pitch to allow for insertion of
terminal block
3) or, option (2) above plus the following modules:-
*         Ring Modulator,
*         MIDI-CV
* Power Supply (723 based design with small onboard heatsink
option [mount transistors off-board for larger heatsinking]
*         Triangle output on VCO

Best Regards
