Damned, you're right. But it is when you use the card at 44.1 khz, isn't it ? 
The emu10k1 chip work only at 48 khz.
So if you use the card at 48 khz it should be fine, BUT it is not sure the 
signal remains unaltered anyway.

I think you confuse with GP INPUTS that are presents (GPI1 and GPI2) wich are 
effectivly what you describe and confirmed by this thread on usenet:

But still there the unexplained outs.

There are a some web pages stating the opposite. 
First there had been the trick of using APS driver instead.
Then you could change an eprom chip which say what card you have.
And it seems there is the possibility to use alternative driver on windoz 
that were made from open source informations available.
