Why trigger...
you can get a trigger from the rising edge of the gate with a
capacitor and resistor... (single trigger)
or a multi trigger by differentiating the step in voltage as the
CV changes....
I built the trigger circuits right into my env. generators, and just
use gates. I'm not personally fond of multi-trigger anyway... but
its not hard to do (in hardware... which I AM personally fond of...)
