[sdiy] Recommended books for PIC programming?

I've read a copy of Easy PIC'n. It is really straight forward and does
not assume you know anything. I can't compare it with much else but it
is a best seller and easily worth the $$$.
Turns out I used to work with the author. He is a very bright guy who
knew nothing about electronics (10 years ago..) and went on a quest to
get up to speed. He did a great job.
As far as the cost of programmers, the pricy ones will have more
potential to program the whole PIC line. You probably don't need that.
