[sdiy] OT: Very sadly, I may be losing my security system

Lady and Gents,

I am posting this only because I have met many friends on this list.  Please
forgive the OT nature of this post.

Chuck, my Aussie, who you may remember was solely responsibile for my
equipment not being ripped off earlier this year, has been in critical care
all week and will be undergoing surgury this morning to correct was has been
diagnosed as a paralysed larnyx, a condition which has critically effected
his ability to take in sufficient air.  We had an episode Monday which this
blockage was so severe, his supply was so low his tongue and gums turned a
dull blue and he passed out. I was told he was winthin minutes of death when
we arrived at the emergency hospital.

While this procedure is not usually as serious, because of his age (14) and
even though he's been on oxygen all week, he is weakened from a lack of air
in his system over time, it is somewhat dicey.  I have elected however to
take our chances and try and save his life.

I'll know if this was sucessful in a few hours and of course, I am praying
for the best possible news.
