Regarding control recording, I should have an example of such a thing
running around years end. The idea was to allow someone to use every
control resource in their synth to generate a control event, record it, play
it back, edit it and then store it. This stored "event" is now a MACRO
that can re-occur for a given input stimulus such as "MIDI msg, GATE/TRIG,
Voltage threshold, etc).
The control modules can now be reconfigured to generate another control
event (or to accompany the stored patch) and can result in the creation of
yet another control event. I call my design an "Event Sequencer". As it is
very easy to create a "list" of events which can "re-play" either top-down,
or pendulum, or with exception order as a function of input states.
The device should also allow easy implementation of granular synthesis.
I am in the parts collection phase and already have the bit-mapped LCD, my 8
channel 14 BIT A/D is on the way and am still deciding on the best DAC
config. The main control will be the standard "JOG/Shuttle" kind of things
and other controls will be "pot's" not a hex keyboard or any thing like
that. The goal was to retro-fit a std modular and make a 4 Env. Gen machine
a 4 x 8 Env. Gen Machine. It also allow a "preset" to implement which
allows easier recall of patches.
I haven't yet put the plans on my web site but i have brought the plans to
SciSound. And am quite interested in any input.
I won't start on it until my 9 chan. 4 OP FM DCO's and it's companion
Voltage Controlled Quad FM DCO are "put to bed". So i'm guessing i start in
December.
regards,
p
