Cool thing. "acts like a resistor" means (to me) no nonlinear effects ala
FET. My only question would be (and I didn't see mention of this in a
datasheet) is the LED current to cell resistance transfer function
linearity. I have my doubts though, I don't imagine the current to light
output of a LED is very linear in the first place. Since the LED drives the
cell, any nonlinearity in the LED I to photon output could be problematic.
I suppose one could put one in the feedback loop of an opamp circuit to
compensate for gross linearity problems.
It says right on their site: "Why wait? Ask for samples."
