    Good thing you decided to not build a Tesla Coil... ;^)

    I guess a good question would be, what is considered to be High
Voltage?

    Normal supply rails are generally +/- 12 or +/- 15 volts.

    Assuming your school won't think you will get electrocuted by those
levels, I would just do an ASM-1

    If you are limited to something like +/- 5 volts, you could
re-engineer the ASM-1 to work at these levels...which would probably
make the project more interesting anyway.
