[sdiy] Balanced lines volts/impedance's explained

Spoke to the Gods here at M&K:

Balanced voltage:  1.224 to 1.227 volts, safely rounded and accepted now to
be 1.23 volts

Impedance however is all over the map now.

In the old days of 600 ohm lines, 0 VU was equivelent to 1/mw.  Why 600
ohms?  Because when they ran the first test line at Bell labs, the line
measured at that.  Had they ran a slightly longer line to get it to a nice
round number like 1000 ohms, everything to this day would of worked out
evenly.
