Speaking of modern DACs -
I need 32 S&H's for the storage function in my PS-3200 clone.
At first, I wanted to do this with opamps, caps and 5x 4051
(like Korg did).
But PCB space is *really* critical. I want to have the complete
storage function on one board (230mm x 160mm), and I
already need 11x 4053 for preset/edit switches, th ewhole 32ch
ADC MUX, the ADC, the DAC and the EEPROM.
So a 32 channel "DAC extension" chip like the MAX5167 would
be really great. The downside is that I need 0V ... +10V analogue
range and the MAX wil not support this, so I'd have to make
an auxiliary GND at +5V and have the logic divided/level shifted
to +5V(L) ... +10V(H)
But this *should* work, when I start with 15V CMOS levels.
Does anybody have some practical experience with this chip?
Any other, similar chips recommended?
Thanks in advance,
JH.
