[sdiy] midi-cv convertor comparisons?

I'll disregard the date "10/29/102" on the web site at
(http://www.analogeffects.com/tryafrostwave.html), it must be an
Australian thing . . . but I have a question about the frostwave:
I use a guitar to midi converter. Suppose I play the sequence open D
string, open G string, G string fretted at 2nd fret. Using normal
guitar technique, the D string will continue ringing while playing the
notes on the G string, and the midi converter, which assumes it is
driving a polyphonic midi device, will output something like D-on,
G-on, G-off, A-on. Notice there is no D-off (yet). My current CV
converter will remember the D is still "on", and when the G-off occurs
will keep the gate on and output a CV corresponding to D. This is
what you want when using classic monosynth keyboard technique. But
when driven from a guitar, the CV glitching to D very briefly with the
gate on between the G and A really sounds awful. What I really want
to happen on the G-off is that the CV maintains G, but the gate goes
off. In more general terms, I want a converter with a mode that
remembers only the most recent note-on, and when the corresponding
note-off comes in, leaves the CV where it is and turns the gate off.
Can the frostwave be configured to do the right thing here? Are there
any other midi-cv converters that do the right thing?
Tom.
