Odp: [sdiy] Vactrol question

I made my vactrols this way.
Actually it was a bit more effort. I put photocell to
heatshrink,
add epoxy, put LED in and heat to shrink. When epoxy
hardened
I removed the heatshrink and painted all black to keep
outside
light off the cell. I made about 50 of them 'vactrols' and
then
measured their performance i.e. resistance at constant
current.
It turned out they varried about 500% from each other, but
it was possible to match a few.

You can see it here:

little black thing with 2 sets of 2 leads on the left side
of pic.
