Oh, man, that brings back a painfull memory. When I
was just a tyke I was breadboarding an opamp in a can
package. It didn't work, and I smelled that hot smell.
So I put my finger on the can. I left my thumb print
on the can, and the can markings on my finger!!!!

Word to the wise: wet your finger first. A sizzling
sound means its hot, and smells better than the
alternative.
