   Well I'd highly recommend using a MAT-04 with the CA3046 VCA circuit 
that is available on the VCA shootout page.  Works extremely well, I 
might add.  Just make sure that the 5th transistor is the one that is set 
as a diode reference (last one on the right).  It doesn't need to be 
thermally coupled like the other 4 do.
   BTW, I use MAT-04's everywhere.  Great for Moog ladder fliters too!
