Y-ellow Y'all.
I know I'm arriving late to the party on this one. (Normal
services will be resumed just as soon as someone defines "Normal") However
having successfully sussed and fixed this kind of problem on a number of
occasions, I have a simple suggestion. Two words.

"Electrolytic Capacitors"

Replace every g'damn electro in the questionable side of the power amp
section and usually the problem goes away. In my case, since I couldn't
be bothered figuring out which one and/or lacked a road map for the beast
in question, I simply replaced them all. Although usually it turns out that
just replacing the bigger ones will remove the problem. But you may as well
replace them all since there usually aren't too many and it's probably
worth it. You could replace both channels at the same time for peace of mind.

I've never seen this problem crop up in the pre-amp but electros being what
they are, this stands to reason. The more stress and peak conditions
they're subject to, the faster they'll wear out. These days gear is often
designed where components are running right on the edge. The cost of going
up to a 35 volt cap where a 25 volt cap will "Just Make it" works out to a
cost saving and this kind of thing is common place. I'd be tempted to say
this is mainly in Japanese gear but since everyone does it now, you just
don't know what 'n' hell you're buying these days.

Must get sleep. Or was that Sleaze? Insert expletive here. I am an
Australian. I Cuss therefore I am.

Be absolutely Icebox.
