Years ago I used to record vowels in tape for then capturing
them in a small area of a C64 ram via its joystick port (with
the harmonic content destruction that this means). I used the
C64 audio chip as base for the S, F, J, an so on. After this the
ram was scaned and directed to a dac (made with resistors) or to
a graphic routine that showed the wave in screen, all in a 30Kb
available "user" ram (people who use Sound Forge can't
imagine this.) They were hours of 6510 LM programming just for a
few minutes of fun. That was the first Spanish speech machine (or
sampler, or store oscope ..none of those terms was known) in my
small town.
Reading the Chatterbox pdf above historical "experiments" revived
in mind. Those were great days.
Just thanks for the info.
