[sdiy] spring reverb.......

Hi all,

I'm also thinking on spring reverbs...
Has anyone used the Doepfer reverb? And the PAiA? Can you tell us about their sound?
Also, is there any other way of controlling decay time other from input amplitude? I imagine the
springs have a maximum amount of decay due to it's phisics... but, it's possible to damp it
electronically or some way? (--> to have control over decay time)
I used plate reverbs with a decay control. Of course, in addition, more amp on the excitation signal
produced longer decays.
I'm looking for spring reverbs more as a sound processor than to create "space" for sounds, so I do
no search for a realistc reverb. So I wonder if it's possible to have short reverb times too.
I like spring sound (as on VCS3 and AKS) but a "too or always springy" reverbs will not be usable
more than once or twice...
Doepfer reverb has the feedback loop accesible and it says it can self oscilate. Well, I gess it may
be easy to implement to any other reverb circuit (or not?), but the idea of processing the
recirculation is interesting, that's why I would like to read any kind of opinions (more and less
tech) about Doepfer, PAiA and other available spring reverbs.
Thanx all,

Fernando
