Actually what would be ideal for volume is one of those buttons like
they had on the Ondes Martinot where it's 0 when open and depressing
it a certain distance makes the voltage increase. I don't know exactly
what that would be, but it always sounded so cool to have. You could
also put five or six of them on a mouse-like structure and "click"
them - depressing would send a drum trigger, and how far you depressed
would set volume/dynamics.
