Jameco has a big selection of single sided hole-per-pad prototype
boards. Not the same quality of Vector but a small fraction of the
price. The big ones warp a little when you stuff 'em tight but that's
not too big a deal.
Other than that, as far as printed boards go, Olimex in Bulgaria beats
vector in price and their service is great!
