When you think about it, what you have to do to make vector board is
not all that different from making a PC board. Especially if you get
vector board with etched copper on it.
I just purchase the Prepunched Insulating Boards (no copper). An
10" x 17" piece is $36. I can generally get a lot of smaller pieces
out of this. The Vector part number 3662 witch is a 4.5" x 6.5 inch
board with 44 pin edge connector is $23 (I built a lot of modules in the
past on this size board). And yes, when you consider that you can get
boards from Advanced Circuits for $33 each ($99 min order), yeah, I
agree, the vector board is kind of expensive. I am afraid I really
don't know of anything cheaper. Vector I can depend on having the
correct size holes for the T42-1 terminals (which you need, and add to
the cost of the project as well).
