the led and the photocell it mods are mounted right next to ecah other, the
"square" that they are mounted in puts each led/cds cell pair about five
inches apart.  The frequency range is such that, no the room lighting and
the other led's do not "drown out" the main led's effect, they do however
affect it, for example in normal room lighting the general frequency of the
machine's output is the same, and if one oscillator is set to audio and the
rest are set to sub audio it acts as a sequencer, different pitches
corresponding to the led's distances from the cds cells, hope that answers
