[sdiy] ballance and volume

I am wanting to add ballance and volume controls to my ASM1.  Basically
what I want is to have left and right bannana jacks as inputs.  Then I
want these to go through the ballance and volume controlls and then out to
2 line out 1/4 inch jacks(one for left and one for right) and a stereo
headphone jack.

Is it possible to do this with resister ladders and still get the correct
levels and impedences or do I need to do something else?

Please keep my beginnerness in mind!
